چکیده

Akin osteotomy is a common component of hallux valgus surgery. Holding the osteotomy in good position with a well placed staple can prove difficult. To aid this, a marker pen is used to apply ink to the tip of the proximal limb of the staple (Fig 1). A hole is drilled in the distal bone and the non-inked staple limb is inserted while the osteotomy is held in the desired position. This causes transfer of ink from staple to bone surface (Fig 2), thereby marking the appropriate site to drill and insert the proximal staple limb. Figure 1 A marker pen is used to apply ink to the staple tip.

Patellar tendon ossification after partial patellectomy: a case report

INTRODUCTION Patellar tendon ossification is a rare pathology that may be seen as a complication after sleeve fractures of the tibial tuberosity, total patellectomy during arthroplasty, intramedullary nailing of tibial fractures, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with patellar tendon autograft and knee injury without fracture. However, its occurrence after partial patellectomy surgery h...

Effect of reamer design on posteriorization of the tibial tunnel during endoscopic transtibial anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

BACKGROUND It is known that small alterations in tunnel positioning during anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction significantly affect ACL length and tensioning patterns as well as alter force vectors and joint kinematics. PURPOSE To compare the amount of inadvertent posteriorization of the ACL tibial tunnel anatomy during transtibial ACL femoral reaming in the "over-the-top" positio...

How to overcome severed sutures of the tibial bone peg in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

We report a case of severed sutures of the tibial bone peg during anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The graft retracted proximally in the bone tunnel. We describe a simple and aesthetically acceptable method to salvage this rare complication by use of a small arthrotomy through the defect in the remaining patellar tendon.

The modified bone-patellar tendon-bone allograft in single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Bone-patellar tendon-bone graft has been an attractive option for single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in clinical practice. However, the graft-tunnel mismatch in the proximal part of the tibial tunnel and the ultimate strength after postoperative ligamentization process have been potential problems for the traditional 10-mm wide graft. We modified the traditional bone-patell...

Fluoroscopic analysis of anterior tibial translation during eccentric and concentric phase of knee rehabilitation exercises in men with anterior cruciate ligament injury

Background: The amount of anterior tibial translation during rehabilitation exercises is a key factor in organizing exercise regimen after anterior cruciate ligament injury. Excessive anterior tibial translation could increase the magnitude of tension imposed on injured and reconstructed anterior cruciate ligament knees. Forward lunge and open-kinetic knee extension exercises are commonly used ...
